Sun Girl is a music video commissioned by Julia Holter for her single “Sun Girl,” released through Domino Records. The concept centers on a girl who avoids the sun despite its benefits, reflecting the tension between what is good for us and what feels most familiar. At the time, Julia was also a new mother and wanted a video to dedicate to her daughter.
A key part of the visual development involved using AI-generated imagery as an early concepting tool. Surreal plant forms were first developed through Midjourney, then translated into 3D by modeling in Maya and texturing in Substance Painter.
