Looking Glass is a 3D animated film created in collaboration with choreographer, Craig Hollamon, and dancer Sasha Rivera, about a person that is bitten by a parasite causing them to fall in love with themself to a point of self destruction. This film mixes a variety of techniques and software including motion capture using OptiTrack cameras , 3D modeling and animation in Maya and ZBrush, texturing in Substance Painter, procedural animation in Houdini, and rendering in RedShift.
The character design was created through mixed media of collage and drawings influenced by costume designs by Eiko Ishioka and the photography of Zhong Lin.
Motion Capture was recorded in the USC SCA performance capture lab, using OptiTrack cameras. The recorded movement was later retargeted in Maya.
